Not a Rangers fan, but he is in the middle of a 5/80 contract. Kind of compares with Rios in that he’s decent, but not worth what he is being paid, not 16 million a year anyway.

He’s a .300 hitter, but now that he’s not a shortstop, he has below average power for his position and he was well below average (-10.5 UZR/150 last year) defensively. Factor in that he’ll be on the books through his age 37 season at $16 million a year, and Rangers fans can’t help wishing at least part of that amount could be reallocated towards the pitching staff.
