« Joakim Soria Signs Extension | Main | Lofton Still Wants To Play »
The Providence Journal reports that Red Sox outfielder Brandon Moss could begin a minor league rehab assignment this week (he had an emergency appendectomy). Bobby Kielty is not close to returning from his broken hand.
Why is this relevant? Nick Cafardo had reported a few weeks ago that Moss' injury killed the chances of trading Coco Crisp. A healthy Moss could reignite trade talks for Crisp, unless the Sox decide to enjoy the luxury and wait until the offseason.

"The Chicago Cubs report LHP Rich Hill is not likely to be a contributor for the team's pitching staff any time soon, according to MLB.com. Manager Lou Piniella has noted the team current has three potential major-league arms in the minors and that Hill is the farthest from a move to the majors."
Could there be a trade around the corner?
...Interesting idea might be hooking up with the Yankees who find themselves with a glut of OF/1B/DH guys and a need for pitching. The Cubs might be interested in a guy like Damon for the LH hitter and CF wants/needs they keep expressing.

how many damn Cf's do those Cubs need...Johnson..Edmonds..Pie..and wasnt this about the Sox and not the Cubs?

“how many damn Cf's do those Cubs need...Johnson..Edmonds..Pie..”
…They don’t want Pie in the majors (hence his not being in the majors), and the other two are scrap-heap fillin’s/flyers to fill the hole. How many 650 OPS and under CF guys will they continue to go with when the team is in win-now mode ~ that might be the bigger question…
“and wasnt this about the Sox and not the Cubs?”
…Yes, but if you know anything about the site then you know that recent news which may have an impact on trades are often given by posters in the most recent thread (if one on the topic/team is not avail atleast). Besides, this specific thread is one of 2 stories on the front page speculating on Crisp and 3 of the top 4 stories mention his name ~ I think BoSox fans will still be ok. But hey, sorry if I disrupted the whole zero people not having a conversation…

No problem, I completely understand that because many (including myself) can get frustrated when the site is going through its stretches of seemingly being overrun by Cubs fans, news, and sometimes even non-news (ie, the whole “nothing new on Roberts” updates we would get).
Hill being on my fantasy team though, I have an interest in him ~ and for some reason he is not being mentioned at all in the topics despite his demotion and struggles in the minors possibly leading to his being dealt, or the team dealing for another starter. When Marquis was mouthy in the preseason, it seemed like every thread speculated about him possibly being dealt, but now nothing is mentioned at all? Don’t you realize that I need to know this stuff Tim ~ he is killing my fantasy team and I need him dealt to someone who will play him!!! :)

…Hahaha… :)
Boy, did the Mets manage to get ahold of that thong though ~ this is just ugly… ***cringes thinking about the golden thong passed around the Yankee clubhouse***

If he had just told his story and left out the fact that he passed it to Damon, Jeter etc it would still be terrifying. Maybe this explains why he is defended by his team mates and they all let A-rod get killed by the media. A-rod has never shared a gold thong.

"If he had just told his story and left out the fact that he passed it to Damon, Jeter etc it would still be terrifying."
...Tell me about it. Watching the game tonight, I actually couldn’t help but think about who might be wearing the golden thong today ~ and that’s just freakin disgusting and completely wrong on so many levels. Dude, “incredible shirking first-baseman”, keep your panties (and panty stories) to yourself…
And really, WTF is going on in the Yankee clubhouse where they actually shared it? I mean, how did that one get started? Was the “incredible shrinking first-baseman” walking around the clubhouse in it after the game one day, to which Jeter could do nothing but ask “hey, you went 2-3 with a pair of dingers today. Can I wear your underwear tomorrow?”
(BTW, Matsui was probably the GoldenPantyMan of the day… 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI ~ accounted for entire Yankee offense)

He has to know that the club house is going to be crucified for this the rest of the year. Giambi is such a ridiculously under appreaciated baseball player and apprarently a great human being that this has to be a purposeful distraction.

“Giambi is such a ridiculously under appreaciated baseball player and apprarently a great human being”
…That I would agree with if he hadn’t destroyed his career with the steroid use. As is though, his body seems like it might be toast; a side effect we often see with users. Ironically, his production was pretty close to the same if he used or not; kind of makes you wonder if we would be talking about a future HOFer had he stayed clean.
“that this has to be a purposeful distraction.”
…That I cant agree with. Had he taken all the flack himself, yeah. But grabbing a couple buddies as you throw yourself on the grenade is, well, not a good thing. I cant see a situation in which he could ever think this will help anyone on the club; you said it yourself ~ “He has to know that the club house is going to be crucified for this the rest of the year.”
Anyway, wanna take bets on Tuesdays GoldenPantyMan? I take Cano ~ he was 0-3 with 2 left on, grounded into a double-play and was hit by a pitch today. Plus he could use a big day to help his rather pitiful numbers… “incredible shrinking first-baseman”, give that man your panties…
