Tyler Walker Rumors

Giants Outright Walker, Correia, Hennessey

The Giants shuffled their 40-man roster this week, cutting ties with pitchers Tyler Walker, Kevin Correia, and Brad Hennessey. All three were eligible for arbitration and probably would've received significant raises, but are now set to become free agents. According to the SF Chronicle's John Shea, the Giants would've traded them, but all three cleared waivers without drawing interest from other clubs. Alejandro A. Leal writes for UmpBump.com and can be reached here: alexo05 *at* umpbump *dot* com.   Continue Reading

Giants Rumors: Winn, Walker, Aurilia

Let's dig into a couple of blog posts from Giants beat writers Henry Schulman and Andrew Baggarly. Schulman says the Giants' front office is divided on whether to trade right fielder Randy Winn this winter. Nate Schierholtz has a .931 OPS in Triple A this year, but can he be a capable regular in 2009? Winn makes $8.25MM in '09, and can block trades to ten teams. The Giants could take advantage of a weak free agent market for center fielders, if Winn can still handle the position. Tyler Walker, owner of a 4.95 ERA, expects to be non-tendered by...   Continue Reading

Perrotto's Latest: Waivers, Extensions, Garcia, Braves

John Perrotto over at Baseball Prospectus has his Every Given Sunday column up: Perrotto lists off several people which he believes are the most likely to be made available if and when they clear waivers. While the list is comprised of a lot of the usual suspects this August (Greg Maddux, Jarrod Washburn, Paul Byrd, Randy Winn), Perrotto lists some other names that we haven't seen as much: Francisco Cordero, Tyler Walker, Todd Jones, Jose Bautista, and Doug Mientkiewicz. Perrotto also says that he feels Aubrey Huff has the best chance to be traded of any impact bat available. Perrotto...   Continue Reading

Rays Interested In Tyler Walker

According to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Rays have interest in reliever Tyler Walker. Walker made 20 appearances for the Rays back in '06, saving ten games. He then had Tommy John surgery and was released. Walker, 32, has a solid 2.36 K/BB ratio this year but has been susceptible to the longball. He's earning $750K this year. It probably wouldn't take much to acquire him.   Continue Reading

Several Giants Relievers Available

Earlier this morning we saw a report that indicated that Erick Threets may be available for the right price. Now, according to Andrew Baggarly, the Giants have made most of their middle relievers available as well as a couple of pitchers in Triple A. The Giants have informed other clubs that relievers Tyler Walker, Jack Taschner and Vinnie Chulk are available in fair-value deals. The club also is soliciting offers for Erick Threets and Brad Hennessey, who is starting for Triple-A Fresno. Walker, Chulk and Hennessey are all arbitration-eligible at the end of the season. Chulk is having the best...   Continue Reading

Stark's Latest: Davis, Valdez, Roberts, Lofton

ESPN's Jayson Stark checks in with a blog entry jam-packed with rumorage. Stark says the Giants are shopping Rich Aurilia, Ray Durham, Steve Kline, Randy Winn, Tyler Walker, Rajai Davis, and Merkin Valdez. The vets we knew about; the last two are a surprise. Probably stems from both being out of options. Brian Roberts update: Stark talked to a club official who's in touch with the Cubs and O's. That guy expects a deal to be done next week. Plus, Stark sees the O's as an active suitor for Kyle Lohse at the right price. Stark confirms the rumblings that...   Continue Reading

Giants Rumors: Cabrera, Rolen, Walker

Finally some Giants rumors! I know a few fans have been clamoring for the team to join the hot stove rumblings. Andrew Baggarly has an article here and Henry Schulman has one here. Let's discuss. The Giants have no one to play third base. Kevin Frandsen could technically do it but they prefer him at second. Thankfully, they will pass on Pedro Feliz. Feliz - get this - wants a three year deal. He's on the Brewers' radar, by the way. Miguel Cabrera is one option, though Baggarly doesn't see the Giants offering up Tim Lincecum to jump into the..   Continue Reading
