The rumblings have become something more - Jeff Blair says the Blue Jays are "zeroed in on signing" outfielder Brad Wilkerson. The Jays had been mulling Jason Michaels previously, but he went to the Pirates.
The Jays are looking for someone who can hit southpaws. Wilkerson, a left-handed hitter, handled 'em in '07 and '05, flailed against them in '06. The Mariners designated him after 68 plate appearances of a .232/.348/.304 line.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Jays Targeting Wilkerson:
You have got to be kidding me. You can't score a run to win a game when Alex Rios starts an inning off with a triple and the solution to that is to sign a guy that was released by another team for a pathetically low average.
I am becoming ashamed to call myself a fan!

The Blue Jays are looking for an outfielder who can hit lefties? Too bad someone like Reed Johnson isn't available! Doh!
Does Ricciardi have a plan or does he just GM by the seat of his pants?

Heh, you have to admit though the Rays bullpen has been freakishly good... really it's like being in a twilight zone episode.
Though don't the Jays already have a decent number of players for OF/1B/DH? Seems to mean Wilkerson is a younger version of Stairs without the bat? And have the Jays given up on Lind already?

Yeah, I think this is actually pretty funny considering they released Reed Johnson...

Wait, so you're bringing in a terrible lefty to hit lefties?
Well I guess this will jump start the offense.

Someone who can hit lefties? It's too bad teams don't just release guys like Reed Johnson and Frank Thomas.
