« Roy Halladay Rumors: Friday | Main | Odds And Ends: Pujols, Pirates, Marlins »
11:32am: Ryan Divish of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that Betancourt is healthy and was genuinely puzzled after being removed from last night's lineup. As Divish points out, Zduriencik's "no comment" suggests something's up.
9:22am: As MLB.com's Jim Street notes, the Mariners have been pleased with Ronny Cedeno's performance during Yuniesky Betancourt's DL stint, so there's a chance they deal Batancourt within the next week.

I'm not going to be a douchy about it as tinynick, but really? An entire post about Yunieski Betancourt? There were no trade rumors for Alberto Collaspo you could have partnered this with?

I'm thinking him for Jack Wilson straight up with the M's eating half of his contract.

Guys I cant seem to find info on Betancourts contract...Perhaps someone out there can give me the breakdown?

BucSox: Be careful what you wish for. Yuni is one of those very frustrating guys that have great athletic skills but well, shall we say, the rest of it is lacking. Still he could make sense as stop gap SS at $3MM 2110, $4MM 2011 and either $2MM or $6MM in 2011 he is no bargain. It probably would not be pleasant but he could allow a team time to develop someone better.

No douchyness B_FU I agree. The thing that makes this big is that Yuni is the worst defensive SS in MLB. If Jose Lopez can be involved in this deal for Wilson and Sanchez life in M's land would be awesome! Yuni and Lopez have "ok" bats but they have regressed so much the past 3 seasons defensively their worth is very little. So if Wilson or Sanchez come over and it takes a lil more to get one of them it will be good!

I like his Glove, and it could be used on the Reds. I wouldnt give up too much though.

icedrake523- thanks, that is an awesome site!
With Yuni's affordability through 2011 he would be a decent fit here...(in Pittsburgh that is)

Sorry this isn't a Sox or Yankee rumor. Many people don't care about Roy Halladay, yet you don't see many getting all bent out of shape over the flood of Halladay rumors.

You like his glove? Its nearly as bad as his bat.
No Talent Shown + Fairly Big Contract = Hard To Move.

Yuni is lucky to be in the big leagues. By all accounts, he has a terrible attitude. According to Fangraphs, he's been the worst shortstop in the AL for the last two years. In addition to his inept fielding, he won't take a walk. And he's got 10 million coming to him. If Jack Z gets more than a bucket of sunflower seeds for him, he's a genius.

Yuni is the best player available. No room on the Mariners for him--someoned take him. LOL
