The New York Post writes of a minor shakeup for the Yankees. They're cutting Richie Sexson and demoting Melky Cabrera to the minors in favor of Brett Gardner and Cody Ransom.
Sexson received 35 plate appearances from the Yankees, hitting .250/.371/.393. He did what he was supposed to do, hitting .273/.393/.455 against lefties.

So what is next for this guy? He reminds me of Andrew Jones. You put the ball on a tee and he will still whiff! What does he do during the off season??? Maybe a winter ball assignment or 12 hours a day in the batting cage will work. Or maybe it is his height? Was never a problem before but who knows!

Cant people pay attention to who reported this? The NY Post has no credibility about this stuff, George King has no clue what he talks about!!!!!

Its on WFAN as well.
Sexson wasn't bad at all with the Yankees (.370 OBP in limited time). He was more a victim of the Yankees wanting a better backup MIF than Betemit.

…I think its about time ~ on both counts...
Sexson is done, and although he makes a formable LH hitter off the bench, the team has enough other questions that he wasn’t worth the roster-spot. And extra bull-pen arm would have actually come in handier…
And I’m hoping that this might actually mark the end of the Melky love-fest that illogically gets tossed around…

It's always sad to see a future first ballot Hall Of Famer, get cut from a team huh darkstar? :)

Thank God.

Thank God Melky is a minor leaguer now as well. I was one in the winter stating how he was good but not great and I did state he was a better player than Ellsbury. Ellsbury has speed at least. Melky has a whopping .296 OBP and 21 Xtra base hits. What a freaking stud. Good bye Melky.

Imagine if the Twins had traded Santana for MelCab, Hughes, Kennedy and Tabata (or something along those lines) as rumored at some point of time their demand was. The Yankees would not have lost anything (maybe Hughes will turn out to be okay) of significance.

Maybe now Yankee fans will understand what EVERYONE else saw in this guy ... a below LA player.
He's not a bad guy. He will have some value in the ML. Just get it out of your heads that he is some super up and comer with tons of value. In my mind he will always be a 4th outfielder type player. Useful to have but not a centerpiece or anything.

Did that just happen?
I'm kinda drunk so maybe I'm misreading that. Did a MFY fan just admit that he overvalued a crap player on his team, and is now admitting that he sucked balls?
No, it's just that I'm drunk. I'll check again tomorrow.

“I'm kinda drunk so maybe I'm misreading that. Did a MFY fan just admit that he overvalued a crap player on his team, and is now admitting that he sucked balls?”
…Apparently NY found the formula to create fan-appreciation for a player no matter how crappy he actually is. This formula consists of nothing more than taking a random weak-hitting 22YO (or under) player and giving him a fulltime job in the MLs ~ no matter how bad he actually is, the fans will point to his age, saying he’s still learning while raving about these imaginary tools they think claim he displays. The formula was also put to test here in LA recently, creating quite the buzz and fanbase for Blake Dewitt despite his being nothing short of horrendous after a lucky May…

…Its esp sad when said player is only 33 YO. Oh, and that release was his second in the last month or two... Oh, and the first cut came from one of the worst teams you can find... First-Ballot, here we come...
